Japan National Cross Country Series’ Top Riders to Compete in Round of Can-Am GNCC Series
GNCC News
Morgantown, W.Va. (February 18, 2010) – Three of the top riders in the Japan National Cross Country Series will travel from Japan to River Ranch, Florida to compete in the opening round of the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country series on March 2nd, continuing the tradition of JNCC riders competing in the GNCC opener in exchange for GNCC riders competing in the JNCC finale in November.
“We are honored to continue the tradition of bringing talented JNCC riders to the first round of the series,” said Jeff Russell, GNCC Trail Boss. “They are an exciting addition to what looks to be a very competitive start to the season.”
Takeshi Koikeda, Masahiro Kobayashi and Kousuke Mori are all seasoned off-road racers and will be making their way to Florida for the March 2nd bike race. Koikeda was the All Japan MX champion in 2005 and the JNCC Champion in 2008 and 2009. Koikeda is considered one of the greatest riders in Japan and competed in the AMA MX series from 1997-1999. Koikeda will compete on the YZ450F.
Kobayashi is one of the younger riders in the JNCC series and is number two in the series. Kobayashi made his JNCC racing debut in 2004, and it has taken him six years to reach the second place spot. Mori was the 2009 A class champion and is an excellent technical rider.
The 2010 Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series kicks off on February 27- March 2 as part of Daytona Bike Week at the Westgate River Ranch Resort in River Ranch, Florida, with the Parts Unlimited River Ranch GNCC. ATVs race on Sunday, February 28, and bikes race on Tuesday, March 2.
